Description:
Napa cabbage "Hilton" is an early variety that is ideal for growing as a fall crop. The variety develops barrel-shaped or cylindrical heads that are 30–40 cm long. The outer leaves are pale green while the inner ones are yellow, giving a beautiful and appetizing appearance. With its mild taste and high nutritional value, "Hilton" is an excellent choice for salads, cooking or pickling. It is particularly rich in easily digestible protein, vitamin C, provitamin A, phosphorus, calcium and fiber.

Sowing and planting:

1. Sowing time:

   • Direct sowing: July, directly in the open field.
   • Pre-cultivation: Sow in seedbed or under cover in July.

2. Seeding depth:

   • Sow the seeds 0.5–1 cm deep in moist soil.

3. Transplantation:

   • Pre-sown seedlings are transplanted to their permanent growing location in early August .

4. Plant spacing:

   • Direct sowing: Rows 30–40 cm apart and plants 30–40 cm apart.
   • Seedlings: Space them 40 x 40 cm apart.

Plant conditions:

• Soil: Sandy clay, moist and weed-free, with a neutral to slightly acidic pH level.
• Location: A wind-protected location is recommended to avoid heads falling over in strong winds.
• Watering: Napa cabbage needs even and regular moisture to develop optimally.

Care:

• Fertilization: Add nitrogen-rich fertilizer before sowing and supplement with fertilizer containing potassium and phosphorus during growth.
• Protection: Fiberglass can be used to protect against pests such as cabbage flies and cabbage moths.
• Weeds: Keep the crop free of weeds to reduce competition for nutrients and water.

Harvest:

• Timing: Harvest heads from September to October .
• Quality: Pick when the head is firm and compact. Napa cabbage can be used immediately or stored for a short time.
