Rosemary – the Mediterranean aromatic classic
Rosemary officinalis

A fragrant perennial herb originating in the Mediterranean - indispensable in both the kitchen and garden! Rosemary thrives best in a sunny location and light, calcareous soil , and is most often grown in Sweden as an annual because it is not winter-hardy outdoors.

The leaves are intensely aromatic and perfect for lamb, pork, potatoes, barbecues, marinades and spiced butter . A classic you always want to have close at hand – in a pot on the balcony or by the kitchen door.

Cultivation & Care:

  • Sowing time: February–April (indoors, long germination period)

  • Planting outdoors: After last frost, in pot or well-drained soil

  • Location: Sunny

  • Soil: Well-drained, preferably slightly calcareous

  • Growth habit: Bushy, perennial (grown as an annual in Sweden)

  • Height: approx. 40–60 cm

  • Scientific name: Rosmarinus officinalis
