An easy-to-grow and heat-tolerant leafy vegetable that provides a bountiful harvest all summer long – perfect as a replacement for regular spinach when the weather gets hot. 'New Zealand' is nutritious, cold-tolerant at first and drought-tolerant later , and the leaves are used just like spinach: lightly cooked, in soups, stews or blanched and frozen .

Harvest leaves gradually over several months. Grows best in partial shade with a steady supply of water and nutrients.

Cultivation & Care:

  • Sowing period: April–August, directly on the growing site

  • Sowing depth: 1–2 cm

  • Germination time: 5–10 days

  • Preparation: Lime the soil if necessary

  • Location: Not too sunny – preferably partial shade

  • Plant distance: 40 cm

  • Row spacing: 50 cm

  • Height: approx. 40–50 cm

  • Growth habit: Freestanding and widespread

  • Harvest: June–September – pick leaves continuously
