Description:
Chives 'Bohemia' is a winter-hardy, perennial herb that does not need to be covered during the winter. This productive and fast-growing variety produces medium-thick, light green, aromatic leaves. It is ideal for growing both outdoors and in pots on balconies or terraces. Perfect as a hardy and easy-care seasoning for salads, soups and dishes.

Sowing and planting:

1. Sowing time:

   • Indoors (greenhouse): March – April.
   • Outdoors: April – May.

2. Seeding depth:

   • Sow the seeds 1–2 cm deep in moist soil.

3. Transplantation:

   • Move seedlings outdoors in May , when the risk of frost is over.

4. Plant spacing:

   • Keep a distance of 20 x 30 cm between the plants.

Plant conditions:

• Soil: Well-drained and moist, preferably nutrient-rich and slightly humus-rich.
• Location: Sunny or semi-shady location.
• Watering: Regular, even watering for best growth.

Care:

• Pruning: Harvest leaves regularly to encourage new growth. Cut the leaves 2–3 cm above ground level.
• Fertilization: Add nitrogen-rich fertilizer for better growth, especially during spring and summer.
• Weeds: Keep the area around the chives weed-free to reduce competition for nutrients and water.

Harvest:

• Period: May – November.
• Quality: Pick the leaves as needed. Chives can be harvested several times per season.
