Russian is a robust and disease-resistant heirloom variety from Eastern Europe, preserved through ProSpecieRara. The variety produces an early and abundant harvest of short, round to oval fruits that turn from light green to golden yellow at maturity. The flesh is white, soft and very flavorful – perfect for both fresh consumption and pickling.

The variety has excellent storage properties and is particularly suitable for those who want to grow something hardy and traditional. It develops fruits on the side shoots, so do not pinch them off - this is where the female (fruit-bearing) flowers form.
