Cornflower, low 'Baby blue'
Centaurea cyanus
Compact, low-growing variety, which forms masses of flowers. Excellent both as potted and free-planted. Can also be sown in autumn for overwintering in a protected location or cold house. Will then bloom until midsummer in southern Sweden. Cultivation: Sow indoors in seed soil in February-April. Sow shallowly. Germinates after 8-14 days at 15-20 degrees. Replant in small pots with planting soil or directly in the growing location. Grow the plants cool, so they get the low, nice growth habit.
