A classic Italian basil with large, aromatic leaves – perfect for pesto, pasta sauces, tomato dishes and egg dishes . 'Genovese' is organically grown and KRAV-labelled , making it a sustainable and tasty choice in the kitchen. Use the leaves fresh straight from the pot or field , or harvest whole sprigs for drying and winter storage .

It thrives just as well in a pot on the windowsill as in a sunny growing box outdoors.

• Sowing period: February–April
